Jurij Svete

Jurij Svete studied chemistry at the University of Ljubljana where he received his PhD in chemistry in 1990 under supervision of Professor Branko Stanovnik. He continued to work as a researcher with the group of Professor Stanovnik. In 1997 he spent one year as a Humboldt Fellow at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, working with Professor Volker Jäger on the synthesis of iminopolyols from furan-nitrile oxide cycloadducts. In 1996, he became an Assistant Professor, an Associate Professor in 2001, and a Full Professor in 2006. His research interest involves fundamental and applied organic synthesis with emphasis on development of novel reagents and synthetic methods, heterocyclic synthesis, combinatorial synthesis, stereoselective synthesis, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, and chemistry of enaminones and 3-pyrazolidinones.
